The Ghatkopar police on Saturday arrested a driver and a cleaner for allegedly stealing 18 laptops worth Rs 6.5 lakh.

MUMBAI: The Ghatkopar police on Saturday arrested a driver and a cleaner for allegedly stealing 18 laptops worth Rs 6.5 lakh. The accused, Danesh Pokarkar (27) and Raja Soni (22) have been remanded in custody till October 14.
Pokarkar and Soni were employed with a logistics firm. According to the police, on October 8, Pokarkar was taking a consignment of 480 laptops from Sahar to the firm's godown in Bhiwandi.

He stopped on the way at Bhattwadi in Ghatkopar to go to his house.
When the staff at the godown found 18 laptops missing, Pokarkar told them that they could have been stolen when he had gone home for a cup of tea, said a police officer. However, on being interrogated by the police, he confessed to the crime.
Pokarkar told the police that he had kept the laptops with a scrap dealer in Ramabai Nagar and intended to sell them off later.
